It was Winter 2006. Scientists were arguing about whether or not Pluto should be considered a planet, Brant Webb and Todd Russell had been recently rescued after being trapped in a mine for 14 days, and I was getting ready to travel overseas for three and a half weeks to Israel and South Africa.
